Wednesday
ASL 1:
Today we discussed Contrastive Structure. CS is a grammatical structure that is unique to signed languages, as it is based on space, so it cannot be used in spoken language. It is a way to compare and contrast, discuss, and inform about two different people, places, things, ideas, concepts, etc. You establish a referent (a place in space) on each side of your body to be designated for each thing being compared. You then shift your body weight from side to side, while pointing to the appropriate referent.
Signing test is tomorrow. You will be signing 3 short biographies one on one with Mrs. Day.
ASL 3/4:
Today we had a Countries and Cities Fingerspelling quiz, and then finished up learning our country vocabulary.
Vocab can be found here: https://mrsdayasl.weebly.com/countries--facts.html
